Second Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive of the Santander Group.
Born in 1942 in Getxo, Vizcaya, Mr Sáenz is a graduate in Economics and Law.
Chosen as a Board member of the Bank for the first time on 11th July 1994, Mr Sáenz was re-elected in the AGMs of 1995, 1998, 2000, 2003 and 17th June 2006. He was appointed Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Santander Group in February 2002.
Other former positions include: Chief Executive and First Vice-Chairman of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya and Chairman of Banesto.
