Dr. Hans-Peter Keitel is President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and member of the Presidential Board of BUSINESSEUROPE. He holds a doctorate in engineering.

For Lahmeyer International, Consulting Engineers, Dr. Keitel was involved in the Management of large-scale hydro and tunnelling projects in Germany and abroad, including long-term assignments in Argentina and Guatemala. Since 1992 he was CEO of HOCHTIEF AG, one of the world’s leading construction companies, and member of the Executive Board of parent company RWE AG.

In 2007, he changed to the Supervisory Board of HOCHTIEF AG. Today, Dr. Keitel is member of several Boards and Supervisory Boards, President of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) and member of the Board of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).
