François Pérol is the CEO and President of the Management Board of BPCE, the second largest banking group in France, since 2009. BPCE Group, whose assets represent more than 1 trillion euros, counts 125 000 employees, serves 34 million retail customers, and is present in 70 countries. François Pérol is also the Chairman of the Board of Natixis, the listed CIB arm of the Group. He was president of the French Banking Federation between September 2010 and September 2011.
He began his career in 1990 as an auditor in the General Inspectorate of Finance, at the French Ministry of Finance. Between 1994 and 2001, he held various positions at the French Treasury Department.
In 2002, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to Francis Mer, Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industry in the French Government, and remained at this position in 2004, when Nicolas Sarkozy was appointed.
In 2005, he became a General Partner at Rothschild & Cie.
In May 2007, François Pérol was appointed Deputy Secretary General, in charge of economic issues, at the Presidency of the French Republic.
François Pérol, 47, is a father of six children. He studied at the HEC School of Management and the Paris Institute of Political Science (Sciences Po), as well as at the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), school for high-flying civil servants.
