Mark Burrows is Vice Chairman, Asia Pacific Credit Suisse.

Mr Burrows’ career in investment banking spans 40 years, commencing with Baring Brothers London. He was Executive Chairman Baring Brothers Burrows in Sydney until 1999 when he relocated to London as Deputy Chairman ING Barings. He subsequently became a Managing Partner and Chairman of Lazard Australia.

Mr Burrows was the principal advisor in some of the most significant corporate and government transactions in Australasia particularly in banking, media and mining. In London he advised on sovereign debt reconstruction in emerging markets. He has served as Chairman/Deputy Chairman of Brambles, Fairfax Media and Telstra.

Mr Burrows has contributed significantly to the advancement of public policy.  He led the development of Australia’s national uniform corporate law and financial market regulations, and co-authored the framework for the current $1.4 trillion system of compulsory superannuation in Australia. In 2007 Mr Burrows was awarded The Order of Australia for his contribution to financial reform and the arts.  Mr Burrows attended the G20 Summits in Toronto and Seoul.

Mr Burrows is the Adjunct Professor of Finance at Sydney University where he graduated B.A., LL.B; and is an author and a dendrologist.
