Having a graduate degree in Economics and Management from Gazi University in Ankara, Hisarcıklıoğlu started his professional life as a accountant in family business. Following, he established his own company, Eskihisar Group which operates in the fields of construction, agriculture, investments, land development, food industry and automotive sector. 

Besides his professional career as a businessman, Hisarcıklıoğlu became the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB); the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Chairman of ICC - Turkey in 2001.

In 2003, he pioneered the establishment of the 'TOBB University of Economics and Technology' and in 2004 he founded TEPAV - the Economic Policy Research Institute, which is the first think-tank in Turkey.

Since 2009, Hisarcıklıoğlu has been the deputy president of EUROCHAMBRES and the vice president of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

Furthermore, he takes part in the board of the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI); the Association of Balkan Chambers (ABC); ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry and D-8 Federation of Chambers of Commerce.
