Yang Ho Cho is chairman, CEO and major shareholder of the Hanjin Group, one of the world’s largest logistics conglomerates, as well as Korean Air. The Hanjin Group is a holding company that includes Korean Air, Hanjin Shipping and other companies specializing in logistics, systems integration, airport ground handling, as well as medical and educational institutions. He also serves as the board of directors chair at S-Oil.
In addition, Mr. Cho has served as vice-chairman of The Federation of Korean Industries since 1996 and co-chairman of the Korea-French High Level Businessmen’s Club since 2000. In 2010, he was re-elected to the International Air Transport Association Board of Governors for the sixth time.
He has been on the University of Southern California Board of Trustees since 1997, and is chairman of the Board of Trustees at two Korean aviation universities.
Mr. Cho was awarded “Commandeur” in the Legion D’Honneur, the highest civilian honor awarded in France (2004), and the Moran Medal, an Order of Civil merit by the Korean government for his many contributions to the Korean economy.
He received an industrial engineering degree from Inha University, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a doctoral degree in business administration from Inha University.
Mr. Cho is married with three children and two grandchildren.
