Franz Fehrenbach has been chairman of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH and a limited partner of Robert Bosch Industrietreuhand KG since July 1, 2003. His corporate responsibilities include Corporate Planning, Corporate Communications including Brand Management and Marketing Communication, Senior Executives, and Real Estate and Facilities.

Franz Fehrenbach was born on July 1, 1949, in Kenzingen (Breisgau), Germany. He is married and has three adult sons. After graduating from high school in 1968, he studied industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, where he received his degree in 1975.

He is a member of the managing board of the VDA (German Association of the Automotive Industry), of the U.S. Board of the Presiding Committee of the BDI (Confederation of German Industry), of the Asia Pacific Committee of German Business, and of the BBUG (Baden-Baden Entrepreneurs’ Conference), a member of the Senate of the Max Planck Society as well as of the board of the Stifterverband, a joint initiative of German industries to promote science and higher education, and a member of the supervisory board of BASF SE.

In 2006, Fehrenbach was named “Eco-Manager of the Year” in the companies category by the environmental foundation WWF Deutschland and the German business magazine “Capital.” In 2008, Fehrenbach was singled out for the “Honorary Golden Steering Wheel” prize, which is awarded to outstanding personalities by a German newspaper. In 2009, the ADAC, the German automobile association, made Franz Fehrenbach its “Personality of 2009,” awarding him the “Yellow Angel” for the multinational group’s ecologically driven innovations. Also in 2009, he received the environment award presented by B.A.U.M., the German Environmental Management Association. On behalf of Bosch, he accepted the Award for Understanding and Tolerance of the Jewish Museum Berlin in the same year.
