Alexey Mordashov started his career as a senior economist, becoming Chief Financial Officer in 1992. In 1996, he was appointed as Severstal’s Chief Executive Officer. In 2002, Mr. Mordashov was elected Chairman of Severstal’s Board of Directors and served as Chief Executive Officer of Severstal Group. Since December 2006 he has been Chief Executive Officer of OAO “Severstal”.  Alexey is a graduate of the Leningrad Institute of Engineering and Economics and holds an MBA from the Newcastle Business School at the University of  Northumbria (Newcastle, UK).
