Chey Tae-won serves as Chairman and CEO of SK Group, which has core businesses in energy, telecommunications, and trading services—strategically critical industries in Korea. In this role, Mr. Chey oversees and unites 91 companies that comprise the Group.

Beginning his career in 1991, he gained global insights and experiences as Managing Director at Yukong Ltd., now known as SK Innovation. He was appointed Chairman of the Board and CEO in 1998.

Mr. Chey continues to expand the group—which had combined sales of KRW 110 trillion in 2010—beyond the Asia-Pacific region. SK was ranked 82th in the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest enterprises in 2010.

Mr. Chey has is an active member of numerous business and civic organizations, including the World Economic Forum and the Boao Forum for Asia. He also serves on the United Nations Global Compact Board. In November 2010, he was appointed to convene the working group on renewable energy at the Seoul G20 Business Summit.

He holds a B.A. in physics from Korea University and completed a Ph.D. program in economics at the University of Chicago.
