Luis María Betnaza is Corporate Director of Techint Group. He is responsible for institutional issues related to public affairs, government, business associations, unions, international negotiations and media.
Luis Betnaza, 56, is a lawyer, educated at the University of Buenos Aires. After starting his professional career in the oil industry, he joined Techint Group in 1980. During the 90’s, he was the Regulatory Director and Public Affairs Manager at Siderca, the Argentine company who would lead the globalization process of the group, now consolidated as Tenaris.
He is 2nd Vice President of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Secretary of the Argentine Steel Chamber of Commerce, Vocal of the Executive Committee of the Mediterranean Foundation. He is also a member of the Ibero-American Forum, since April 2008, a space for discussion that brings together intellectuals, academics and businessmen in the region.
Previously, he served as Director of ILAFA (Latin American Iron and Steel Institute) and Founding Director of Mercofer, an organization that brings together the steel industry of Mercosur. He was also Member of the Board of Directors of Tamsa S.A. de C.V. since Techint took control of the Mexican company in 1993 until it was integrated into Tenaris in 2002.
