Atsutoshi Nishida received his MA in political philosophy from Tokyo University.

Mr. Nishida joined Toshiba Corporation in 1975, where his career in information equipment included commercialization of the world’s first portable PC.

Following assignments that included serving as Senior Vice President of Toshiba Europe and President of Toshiba America Information Systems, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Toshiba in 2005. In this capacity, he oversaw the 2006 acquisition of Westinghouse Electric Company.

Mr. Nishida currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Toshiba. He is also a Vice President of the Japan Business Federation, the Chairman of the Japan Association of Defense Industry and Chairman of the Japan Tourism Association.

Mr. Nishida’s personal mottos are “genzen jishuku” and “jisshin, jitsugen, jikko”, which respectively mean “set and achieve tough challenges” and “make good on your commitments”.
