Laurence Parisot was born in Luxeuil-les Bains (Haute-Saône) in 1959. She attended Nancy II University where she graduated in Public Law. She then studied in Paris at the Institute of Political Science (Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris) and obtained a Master of Political Science. From 1983 to 1985, Laurence Parisot was the assistant to Alain Lancelot, President of the Research Centre of French Political Life (Cevipof, centre d’études de la vie politique française). In 1985, she started working for Louis Harris in France where she became director general from 1986 to 1990. In 1990, Laurence Parisot lead the polling institute IFOP (Institut Français de l’Opinion Publique). In 2008, Laurence Parisot becomes vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Ifop Group. Laurence Parisot is also President of IFOP Shanghaï (since 1996) and IFOP-CMR (since 1999). She is a Member of the Michelin Supervisory Board and of BNP Paribas and Coface Boards. More than ever, Laurence Parisot is convinced of the central role entrepreneurs must play in today’s society. Within the French Economic and Social Committee (2004-2005) and within MEDEF since 2002, she has been very involved in public debates. These commitments lead to her election as President of MEDEF in 2005. Laurence Parisot is “Chevalier” of the “Ordre national de la Légion d’Honneur” and « Officier » of the « Ordre national du Mérite ». She is also « Commandeur » of the Moroccan « Ordre du Ouissam Al Alaoui ». Since 2008, she is member of the “Comité des Sages” of Samu Social.
